Loretta Z put me on the speakerphone last (Monday?) when they held the committee meeting, and I mentioned that I had no contact with anybody in our class since we graduated.....and this week I realized that's not exactly true. In April 2003, I took Elvira down to Daytona for her first-ever glimpse of the ocean. While there we visited Orlando and spent a day or two with Dave and Ray Heckmann and their wives. Both have done remarkably well, operating a bilingual tour/travel company that they started up in the 70's. Dave, Ray and I were surf-junkies, especially in '67/68. So to commemorate the reunion, these two fired up their speedboat and dragged yours truly across the surface on a vintage Gordon & Smith banana board - and I was able to 'get up' as they shot some hilarious video. I will contact them about this site...
I've been in recent and frequent contact with Lorraine Romano. And a few years back I traded a few e-mails with Susan Safrath, who at that time was dating Don Mulzoff.
I also spoke with Tom Northshield's father by phone in the late 90's by sheer happenstance. I do not have exact contact info for Tom, but I do know he's living and working in Belgium, and is fond of riding a bicycle to work each day...
Two of the nicest fellows I ever met: Ray Letellier and Carl Nunnencamp - does anyone know what became of them?
I AM SO GLAD TO SEE YOU HERE ON THE WEBSITE - you have sent me some of the funniest emails and I believe your wit and wisdom are going to be fantastic here!! Ah, yes, the Rollingwood Chronicles....
Ah, the cherished Chronicles....Katie's referring to the neighborhood Rollingwood where we kids frequently observed...... well, not exactly 'role-model' behavior - where public drunkenness by married couples staggering down the streets at 7AM in bathrobes and still swilling martinis after the party finally ended - and many confirmed reports of wife swapping - well, to be completely fair to everyone, let's call it spouse swapping. I'm not implying these 1960's 'progressives' were limited to Rollingwood environs - but we seemed to be the flagship neighborhood with a promiscuous and ' What - Me Worry? ' reputation.
Katie, lets keep the sordid details to ourselves. Too many sad stories resulted from grown adults taking the words to Reach Out in The Darkness literally!
