How were Reunions done without Computers?

How were Reunions done without computers? How was anything done without computers? Remember? those old typewriters? At least you could fill out a form. How do you fill out a form today? By hand. Wonderful. And cellphones? How could I live without my cellphone. Just fine thanks. Except there aren't any payphones out there if I get stuck. And Ipods, gotta have that one for the gym. Yes. I go to the gym. Hated it in HS. (Boy do I remember those uniforms - ugly!) Oh wait. Central Airconditioning. My kids think we were primitives - sweating in those days.  Oh the memories. Youth really is wasted on the young. I want my old body back, I'll keep my mind as it is today thanks. Memories. Sorry guys, I wasn't one of the best and brightest at Whitman. Came in when I was 16. Only there for a year and half. But I had fun. But back to the subject. Pre computer days. That's a vintage memory. And a profound change in our lives. Time is the factor here. Everything now moves so quickly. Yes? Comments? Discussions? Did you fulfill your dreams?  Another discussion. That I challenge people to write about. Me? Yes and no. I became an artist, exhibiting, and selling, but... I haven't mastered my craft ... yet. I got married and had children. Thank god for that! The most important success in my life. And I married someone so smart, he's my encyclopedia, my libary and my computer. And he's a computer scientist to boot. Ok. enough. I'm dazed and dizzy from a day of heat and grandkids running around. Last question? Who went to Woodstock? Disucssion? or forgetabout it Linda.

Linda what a delightful rambling post... a little trip down memory lane of course... well, we planned the 35th reunion 5 years ago, and I can't hardly believe it myself, but we did it without this incredible website.  Just emails from my own personal email account - the first time I broadcast out an email they shut me down, detecting me immediately as a major spammer for sending out, what, 100 emails?!?  After that I sent 'em out in chunks of 30 or so.

I do remember carbon paper.  I used to type transcripts of interviews by private investigators, and yes, I had to correct both original and copy with Wite Out!!!!  Ridiculous.  No wonder I'm half crazy now.  I embrace the continued improvement of computer forms - I work at a law office now and can fill out the majority of forms on the computer.  All court filing is done online and it's unbelievably accurate - I don't miss the stamp thing at all.  It helps to develop an enjoyment of the new technological advancements.  I expect, soon enough, to be kvetching from my rocking chair about HOW IT USED TO BE, but for now, I'm going to make every effort to understand that, it's NOW, and things go forward, and it's all very exciting!

Woodstock - I wasn't there, but my brother and I spent that Woodstockian time in our own home, soldering circuits for my Dad, who had invented a brand new device through which you could swipe a credit card and it would evaluate its veracity...

Thank you for such a thoughty start to the day!  Katie K.

OOPS.....was trying to quote linda's comment about her kids thinking we lived in the stone age.......sorry........ANYWAY.......we did the 20th entirely with the telephone and snail mail.....YIKES i can't believe it even mateialized at all without the intenet.......

as to linda's quote about her kids and the stone age.......about 18 years ago i was driving thru an historic area in RI and mused as to how i sometimes wished i had lived in the 'old days' when my youngest (5 or so at the time) piped up and said 'I wouldn't.'  when i queried as to why not (thinking he would say no nintendo or something) he announced that everything was black, white, and gray in the olden days.........My eldest who was around twelve at the time explained:

SHE used to think that the world turned to  color when dorothy came out of the house into munchkinland.......You see all the repeats on nickelodeon were of the old shows like my three sons, lassie, etc., and logically as a kid she thought that they were in black and white, because the world was black, white and  gray.............

kid logic!
