Hey all you music heads! I spoke with Mr. James D. Tripp today. He is alive and kicking in Sag Harbor.....He sounds exactly the same as i remembered him, and he was very excited to hear about our reunion, and expressed some interest in seeing us............He even somehow remembered my married name, and when i expressed some surprise at this, he assured me that it was the same memory bank that he used to wield over us! for more info, contact me.
Hey Paige,
I have often wondered about Mr. Tripp, he was one of my favorite teachers without a doubt- it would be great if he could visit the reunion- I would love to hear about him- let me know what he has been up to- we had great times in chorus... How did you locate him?
I remember the chorus making a record not sure if it was at WWHS or SCCC-does that sound familiar?? I think my parents still have it-
Thanks,
Kathy
I had/have a recording that I've been digging through the basement looking for (and I DO mean digging! So far I have found a copy of 'Ride the Chariot' and some other WWHS music because I'm a packrat and I keep everything. The recording I had/have is I believe the Regional recording (NYSSMA or whatever)...which I vaguely remember performing or rehearsing in the WWHS gym (does anyone else remember that? I think it included 'Regina Coeli' but I could be making all this up) Did we have regionals at WWHS that year or something...I'm really hazy. Anyway... Is that the recording you are talking about??? I was starting to look for it but I don't know if I chucked it with my other 'records'. I was thinking that if I had it I could transfer it to CD (I have a turntable at work and I also have a CD burner that can convert audio to digital) and mail it to the reunion people just in case someone wanted to copy it and go down memory lane.
Cool that you found Mr. Tripp. If you know how to get in touch Paige I'd love to just say hi. Thanks, Roz
Hey Roz, i think you are right........i don't know if the regina coeli was part of it, but i sure remember 'practicing' in on bus trips......'Cream Cheese and Jelly, Cream Cheese and Jelly, Cream Cheese and jelly on rye, on rye, on RYYYYE and so on...........' you may be right about regionals as well......Please do find that record, that would be so great....
I also remembe kay nelson ringleading the attempt to sing 1/4 tone off in the alto section.......i can't remember if we were torturing Mr. T or Mr. A.........

I don't know how old this message is, but I'd be interested in getting in touch with Mr. Tripp.
