A Camp Pendleton general well versed in counterinsurgency operations in
Iraq has been tapped to lead the Marine Corps' role in  the  troop
escalation in Afghanistan, Defense Department officials announced Monday.
Maj. Gen. Richard Mills will command Camp Pendleton's I Marine Expeditionary
Force Forward in Afghanistan and have responsibility  for all  Marine forces
there. Mills commands the 25,000-member 1st Marine Division.Mills is in
Afghanistan preparing for the arrival
of those  troops. The Huntington Station, New York native served as commander of Marine and U.S.
Army ground forces in Anbar from October 2007 until January of this year.

CAN'T SAY ENOUGH OF THE JOB OUR TROOPS ARE DOING IN THAT FORSAKEN PLACE! AS A FORMER ARMORED CAVALRY TROOPER  AND SENIOR NCO I TAKE GREAT PRIDE ( AS WE ALL DO FROM OUR CLASS ) THAT YOU ARE STILL KICKIN BUTT AND TAKIN NAMES. GET THE JOB DONE AND COME BACK SAFE.
